Browser compatibility and screen resolution
This website is optimized for use with Netscape Navigator version 6.0 (or higher) and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (or higher) at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. You do not need Java Script. It can also be viewed using other browsers that support cascading style sheets.
If you are using older browser versions, you may notice that some fonts and styles are displayed incorrectly. For example, if you are using Netscape version 4, which does not support cascading style sheets, you will only be able to view a text version of our content.

Downloading PDF attachments
Adobe Acrobat reader is a free software programme that lets you view and print PDF files on all major platforms. If you do not already have Acrobat reader, you can download it here for free.
How do I download a PDF file?
If Acrobat reader is installed on your computer, you can view PDF documents directly from your browser by clicking on the link to the document.
If your internet browser does not support the software, or if you want to save the document onto your hard drive, use the right mouse button to click on download (Windows) or hold down the mouse button (Macintosh) and then click on "Save target/link as ..." in the context menu. Enter the drive and directory on your PC where you want to save the file.
Search functions
The Federal President's website is equipped with an advanced easy-to-use function that enables you to search the whole site for any term you choose.
Use the search mask in the navigation bar at the top of the page to enter your terms. A full-text search will be conducted in all documents on the website.
You can limit your search to a selected type of publication, such as press releases or speeches, by using the search function within the relevant section. By specifying various attributes (speaker, date, etc.) you can narrow your search for better results.
Printing documents
On the right hand side of every document displayed in full is a link to the print view. This lets you print the document in A4 format without including everything else that appears on the screen. Just click on "print view" and then on the "print" command in your browser.
