I was deeply saddened by the news about the terrible attack on a mosque in the north of the Sinai peninsula. Devout Muslims who had gathered for traditional Friday prayers in their place of worship were murdered by the cowardly attackers.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families. I wish those who have been injured a speedy recovery.

I hope that you and the people of Egypt will have the strength that is needed to remain united in the fight against terrorism.
