Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier received President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan for a state visit to the Federal Republic of Germany from 27 to 29 September.

The Federal President welcomed the Turkish President to Schloss Bellevue with military honours on 28 September. The two Heads of State subsequently held detailed talks.

In the afternoon, President Erdoğan attended a wreath laying ceremony at the Neue Wache, the Central Memorial of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Victims of War and Tyranny. In the evening, the Federal President and Ms Büdenbender received the Turkish President and his wife for a state banquet at Schloss Bellevue.

On 29 September, President Erdoğan concluded his state visit to Germany by visiting Land North Rhine Westphalia.

Abdullah Gül was the last Turkish President to travel to Germany on a state visit in 2011.
