Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender paid a state visit to the Republic of Botswana from 21 to 22 November. On the first day of his visit, the Federal President’s programme in the capital Gaborone included talks with President Mokgweetsi Masisi and the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Afterwards, he visited Mokolodi Nature Reserve. On Thursday, he held further talks with members of civil society and inaugurated a Construction Industry Trust Fund (CITF) training centre.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender paid a state visit to the Republic of Botswana from 21 to 22 November.

On the first day of his visit, the Federal President’s programme in the capital Gaborone included talks with President Mokgweetsi Masisi and the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Afterwards, he will visit Mokolodi Nature Reserve.

On Thursday, the Federal President held further talks with members of civil society and inaugurated a Construction Industry Trust Fund (CITF) training centre.

Thanks to its solid economic policy, Botswana has developed from one of the poorest nations in the world into a country with an upper middle income. The last state visit to Botswana by a Federal President took place in 2006.
