On the first day of his visit, the Federal President was welcomed by President Guðni Jóhannesson in the capital Reykjavik. The Federal President held political talks with President Jóhannesson, Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir and Speaker of Althingi (Icelandic parliament) Steingrímur Sigfússon.
