From 10 to 13 June Federal President Joachim Gauck and his partner Daniela Schadt visited the Kingdom of Norway at the invitation of King Harald V.
The three-day state visit focused on the close and amicable relations the two countries enjoy, current political issues, Norway’s contributions to peace around the world, and the country’s research and advanced technology sector. The Federal President met representatives of Norway’s Government and Parliament as well as its business, scientific and cultural communities. Other engagements included a speech and discussion event at the Norwegian Nobel Institute and the opening of the Youngwood Festival in Oslo. In Trondheim the Federal President visited the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he took part in a discussion with students, and afterwards toured Nidaros Cathedral.
