State visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

Federal President Joachim Gauck and Daniela Schadt went on a state visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg from 3 to 5 November 2014. During the three day visit, the Federal President expressed his appreciation of the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed current political issues. He met Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, members of Government and parliament, as well as businesspeople and representatives of the scientific, cultural and educational spheres.

Federal President Joachim Gauck and Daniela Schadt went on a state visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg from 3 to 5 November 2014.

During the three day visit, the Federal President expressed his appreciation of the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed current political issues. He met Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, members of Government and parliament, as well as businesspeople and representatives of the scientific, cultural and educational spheres.

The Federal President visited the Vianden pumped storage plant, a successful example of regional cooperation, and, having crossed the border at Schengen, the binational Schengen Lyzeum secondary school in Perl, Saarland. Federal President Gauck gave a speech at the trinational Pierre Werner cultural institute and discussed European policy with school students. Further he opened the German-Luxembourg business conference and visited the research quarter in Esch/Belval.
