Federal President Joachim Gauck and Ms Daniela Schadt traveled to Peru for a state visit from 19 to 24 March 2015.

During his visit to Peru from 19 to 24 March 2015, the Federal President first hold political talks in Lima, including with the President and representatives from Congress and Government. Moreover, he visited a training centre for environmental technicians in the Peruvian capital as an example of German-Peruvian cooperation in the education and research sphere and discuss the state of the dual system of vocational training in Peru. He was briefed on corruption and corporate social responsibility in talks with business representatives. The programme also included a visit to the national memorial to the victims of the internal armed conflict in Peru and a discussion with representatives from civil society. The Federal President was also briefed on this topic and on the challenges facing Peru’s rural areas during his visit to Ayacucho – one of the country’s poorest regions and a focus of German development cooperation.

Federal President Gauck canceled his state visit to Uruguay due to the plane crash in southern France with many German victims.
