Federal President Joachim Gauck and Daniela Schadt received King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden on 5 October for their state visit to Germany. The royal couple was welcomed with military honours in the park of Schloss Bellevue at the beginning of their four-day state visit. This was followed by talks. In the evening, the Federal President and Daniela Schadt hosted a state banquet in honour of the King and Queen of Sweden.

Federal President Joachim Gauck and Daniela Schadt received King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden on 5 October for their state visit to Germany. The royal couple was welcomed with military honours in the park of Schloss Bellevue at the beginning of their four-day state visit. This was followed by talks. In the evening, the Federal President and Daniela Schadt hosted a state banquet in honour of the King and Queen of Sweden.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden travelled to Hamburg on 6 October. In the evening, the Federal President and Daniela Schadt joined the Swedish royal couple at a dinner at Schloss Charlottenburg hosted by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden. The Federal President and Daniela Schadt met King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia again on 7 October for talks at Schloss Bellevue. The royal couple then travelled to Wittenberg and Leipzig on 8 October for the next stages of their visit.

Federal President Joachim Gauck and Daniela Daniela Schadt paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden on 4 May 2012. The one-day visit was prompted by the 400th anniversary of the German School in Stockholm, the second-oldest German School abroad after the one in Copenhagen.
