Federal President Joachim Gauck welcomed Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Republic of Estonia, with military honours at Schloss Bellevue on 11 November on the occasion of her first official visit to Germany. During their luncheon, the Presidents focussed on cooperation in Europe and the continuation of the close relations built on trust between the two countries.

Federal President Joachim Gauck welcomed Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Republic of Estonia, with military honours at Schloss Bellevue on 11 November on the occasion of her first official visit to Germany.

During their luncheon, the Presidents focussed on cooperation in Europe and the continuation of the close relations built on trust between the two countries.

This was the first time Federal President Joachim Gauck and the Estonian President have the opportunity to meet. Kersti Kaljulaid assumed office as Estonian President on 10 October 2016 as the successor of Toomas Hendrik Ilves.
