Germany and Israel established diplomatic relations on 12 May 1965. Sixty years later, both countries can look back on an extraordinary development shaped by reconciliation, growing trust and friendship in action.

On the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Federal President Steinmeier has called for remembrance not to become routine. “Our history is a precious treasure trove of experience. Let us trust in our experience,” he said at a commemoration ceremony in the Bundestag.
