Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender welcomed Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Crown Prince Frederik on 10 November for a four day state visit to Germany.
On the morning of 10 November, Federal President Steinmeier received Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederik with military honours in the park of Schloss Bellevue. Afterwards they held talks together. In the evening, the Federal President and Elke Büdenbender hosted a state banquet in honour of the Danish Queen and Crown Prince.
On 11 November, the Federal President joined Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederik for a visit to the Documentation Centre for Displacement, Expulsion and Reconciliation in Berlin. The day ended with a reception at the invitation of the Queen of Denmark and the Crown Prince in the Deutsches Historisches Museum. On 12 November, Queen Margrethe II traveled on from Berlin to Bavaria, where the state visit ended.
Federal President Steinmeier last visited Denmark in June 2021 to join in the celebrations of the one hundredth anniversary of the drawing of the Danish German border, which had been unable to take place in 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
